You’ll Love This Frozen Hot Chocolate Recipe!

Chef Joe Calderone shares the recipe for Serendipity 3’s famous drink, the Frozen Hot Chocolate! Joe makes his cocoa mixture with 2 tablespoons Ghirardelli, 1 tablespoon Hershey, and 2 tablespoons Scharffen Berger cocoa powder, but feel free to make this frosty treat your own by mixing and matching the types of cocoa powders you use.

Frozen Hot Chocolate
Serves 1 to 2


1/4 cup evaporated instant dry milk
1/3 cup granulated sugar
5 tablespoons cocoa mixture
1 cup whole milk
3 cups ice
Whipped cream, for serving
Shaved chocolate, for serving


1. In a medium bowl, stir together evaporated instant dry milk, sugar, and cocoa together.

2. In the jar of a blender, add milk, dry milk mixture, and ice. Blend on high until smooth and creamy, about 20 to 30 seconds.

3. Pour into a large goblet (or 2 smaller glasses), and top with whipped cream and shaved chocolate.
