Burgess Brothers’ Sweet Churwaffle

The Burgess Brothers are famous for their BBQ Sauce, but they’ve also got breakfast on lock! Learn how to make Matthew and Jonathan’s Sweet Churwaffle, using their homemade cornbread mix.

Burgess Brothers’ Sweet Churwaffle
Serves 4 to 6


Nonstick cooking spray
1 package Burgess Brothers Cornbread Mix
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup buttermilk or almond milk
½ cup sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
Whipped cream, for serving
Pure maple syrup, for serving


1. Preheat a waffle iron and spray with nonstick cooking spray.

2. In a large bowl, gently fold together cornbread mix, oil, buttermilk, and 1 cup water. Working in batches, pour cornbread mixture into prepared waffle iron and cook until golden brown (time will vary based on each waffle maker). Spray iron with nonstick cooking spray after making each waffle.

3. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, mix together sugar and cinnamon. Using a fine mesh strainer, dust warm waffles with cinnamon mixture. Serve waffles warm with whipped cream and syrup.
