Jen Phanomrat’s Campfire Stuffed Apple Caramel “Crisps”

Tastemade’s Jen Phanomrat has the perfect snack to enjoy ’round the campfire on a chilly fall night. No campfire? A grill will do just fine, too!

Campfire Stuffed Apple Caramel “Crisps”
Serves 4

4 fiji apples
4 tablespoons packed brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons salted butter
8 caramels
1 cup granola, preferably with raisins

1. Prepare a campfire or grill with coals.

2. Slice off tops of apples and set aside. Using a small knife or spoon, scoop out each apple. Remove seeds and discard; transfer insides of apples to a cutting board. Chop into smaller pieces and transfer to a medium bowl. Add brown sugar and cinnamon and mix to combine.

3. Place 2 caramels in each hollowed out apple. Add apple-cinnamon mixture to hallowed out apples, evenly distributing among each of the four apples. Top each apple with ½ tablespoon butter.

4. Return tops to apples and wrap with foil. Place wrapped apples on hot coals and cook until softened to your liking, 20 to 25 minutes. Unwrap, remove apple top, and top each with granola. Serve.
