Cat Cora’s Wedding Cake Contest: And the Winner Is…

Celebrity chef and friend of the show, Cat Cora and her fiancé, award-winning producer Nicole Ehrlich, hosted a Wedding Cake Contest to find their dream wedding cake for their upcoming nuptials!

Bakers from all over the country submitted their wedding cake designs for the chance to win $1000; travel and boarding accommodations for one night in Santa Barbara, California, where the wedding will take place; and tons of media exposure for their business – including an appearance on Pickler & Ben!

The couple teamed up with their friend Candace Nelson, celebrity baker, entrepreneur and owner of Sprinkles Cupcakes, to find the perfect cake. The three finalists were:

Alex Wilson from The Hungry Hero Dessert Co. in Sherwood, Oregon. He designed his cake based off of roses that Cat had once given to Nicole, wanting to do something natural and beautiful. The flavor is vanilla and almond with some lemon zest, with honey caramel down the center, and a vanilla cheesecake buttercream shortbread crumb.

Lexie Verbruggen from Sweetified, located on Marco Island, Florida. The flavor is white mousse with vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream frosting. Lexie incorporated six tiers on the bottom, inspired by the couple’s six boys, that are left blank so the boys can draw on them with edible markers.

Libby Ryan from Just Baked Cake Studio and Bakery in Santa Margarita, California. She designed her cake based off of the couple’s wedding dresses! The cake is made up of several flavors, including coconut lime, vanilla bean, and brown sugar.

It was a tough decision, but Cat, Nicole and Candace unanimously chose the winner as… Lexie Verbruggen from Sweetified!

Congrats, Lexie! And congrats Cat and Nicole!
