3 Personal Care Products You Can Make At Home!

Lauren shared three recipes for beauty and cleaning products you can make right at home. Not only will you save money, but you’ll reduce the amount of trash you produce and have total control on what you are putting in and on your body and in your home!

Lip Balm
Makes 6 (2-ounce) containers


3 tablespoons cocoa butter
3 1/2 tablespoons coconut oil
2 1/2 Tablespoons beeswax
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
15 to 20 drops essential oil, like peppermint, lemon, orange, or cinnamon


1. In a large glass bowl set over a double boiler, combine butter, coconut oil, beeswax, and olive oil. Stir until melted.

2. Add essential oil and stir to combine.

3. Carefully spoon into 6 2-ounce containers.

4. Refrigerate until solid.


Makes 8 ounces


2 tablespoons arrowroot powder
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon shea butter
5 to 10 drops essential oil, like lemongrass


1. In a medium bowl over a double boiler, mix all ingredients together thoroughly, until soft and combined.

2. Add essential oil and stir to combine.

3. Carefully pour into an airtight 8-ounce container.

4. Refrigerate until solid, about 20 minutes.

All-Purpose Cleaner
Makes 1 spray bottle


50% Water
50% White vinegar
15 to 20 drops essential oil, like eucalyptus


1. Fill a reusable spray bottle with half water and half vinegar.

2. Add essential oil, and shake to combine.
